Fiber & Fabulous

Fiber & Fabulous is a nutrition education program that focuses on improving the health and well-being of women ages 40 to 64 living in rural, Southwest Minnesota. Program participants will identify the risks of heart disease specific to women and how these risks are related to not eating enough fiber. Our multilevel approach blends in-person education and activities with social support. Through these avenues, participants will learn how to easily identify high-fiber foods and incorporate them into their (and their families’) diets to meet the recommended intake. These changes will help improve the overall health and well-being of the participants as well as decrease their risk of heart disease.

Women should eat 22-25 grams of fiber every day.

How do you stack up?

The average American woman doesn’t eat nearly enough fiber.

Fiber & Fabulous aims to educate women about how much fiber they need, what foods are high in fiber and the heart health and gut health benefits of fiber.

We do this by creating healthy menus, visiting grocery stores and even cooking high-fiber foods together.

We are also building a community of women who are trying out a fabulous, heart-healthy, high-fiber lifestyle.
